2019: The Accidental Beginning
Sarah moved to Leeds for work. History degree, corporate job, the usual trajectory. Weekends felt empty. So she started walking. Not jogging—walking. Slowly. Looking at buildings.
One Saturday she found herself in an arcade that smelled like old books and boot polish. The shopkeeper told her about the Boar Lane disaster of 1908. Then about the families who rebuilt. Then about the architect who'd designed half the city centre.
The Snowball Effect
She started bringing friends. Colleagues. Her sister. People kept saying the same thing: "I didn't know any of this existed."
Tom joined in 2020. Former teacher, burned out, looking for something that felt real. He knew the Dales better than anyone—not the Instagram spots, the places locals actually go.
They started posting walks on a shared calendar. Then charging a tenner to cover petrol. Then realizing people would pay properly if you just showed them something genuine.
What We're Not
We're not performing enthusiasm. We're not doing character voices or holding umbrellas with company logos. We don't have branded lanyards.
We do have strong opinions about Victorian architecture. We will talk about the Leeds Liverpool canal for forty minutes if you let us. We know which pubs serve proper bitter and which ones are pretending.
